R Discovery crossed 300,000 users last week, and we are delighted to be sharing this news with you!

We are grateful for all the ways in which you and other users have contributed to our understanding of what researchers want. Your feedback and suggestions have been crucial to our growth. We thank you for your invaluable support.

We have many more milestones to cross on our journey to becoming the No. 1 content discovery platform for all researchers. We look forward to the interesting times ahead and hope that we continue to have your support. Here are some exciting updates in September that we are sure you will find useful.

Read without restrictions – access 24M+ full-text papers!

We understand that curbs on full-text access seriously undermine your reading experience. Therefore, we are thrilled to share that we now have more than 24 million full-text papers on R Discovery!

In another significant development, we grew our database of topics from 5.6M to 9.5M. Much of this growth has come from adding new and trending topics that emerged in the past year (Coronavirus, for example) and by making topics more nuanced and contextual than before.

Your feed has been enhanced with these newer, richer topics. Check out your feed now and see sharper search results!

Together, these changes take your search experience several notches higher. Make sure you don’t miss them – upgrade your app now!

Read faster with Highlights and Extracts

In keeping with our mission to help you save time, we bring you Highlights and Extracts for over 5M papers!

Highlights help you grasp the gist of a paper in seconds by presenting its uniqueness in 3-5 bulleted points.

Extracts (which appear under the heading “Full paper”) provide summaries of the paper’s main sections, helping you to quickly decide whether you should read the full paper or not.

Highlights are available on both the app and website. However, Extracts are presently available only on the app and will appear on the website in a week.

Follow your favorite journals!

Based on your reading choices and topic preferences, R Discovery now recommends suitable journals for you on your app’s home page.

Follow any of the recommended journals to see their latest articles displayed on your home page.

If you do not see journal recommendations, you should

Read only full-text papers

If you want to be shown only papers that have full-text access, all you need to do is start a search with your keywords, open the search filter, click on “Flags”, and select “Open access available”.

Alternatively, you can scroll down your home page to the section titled “Read full papers”, just below “Relevant Reads“. This section only displays full-text papers from your topics. It is a quick and easy way to read what you prefer!

Many new features are available only on the latest version of the app. So do make sure that you constantly update your app—or better still, that you have auto-updates turned on.

We would love to hear your opinion on these changes. Has your experience become better? Or is it the same as before, or maybe even worse? You can either write to us if you have any ideas to share, or choose your preferred time to talk to us.
