Ambassador of the Month: Nour Benlakhdar<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Nour<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Benlakhdar<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>is a\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ph.D. candidate in Educational Linguistics, University of Northampton. Originally from Algeria, she is now in the third year of her Ph.D. program in the U.K. Her research focuses on the difficulties Algerian PhD students face when writing for publication.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

How did you get interested in this field?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My research stems from my personal experiences with science\u00a0Ph.D.\u00a0students and my observation of their struggles throughout the process of drafting academic articles. As I grew up in a family of intellectually-curious people, I became strongly interested in research – including how to do research – and academic life. I quickly\u00a0realized\u00a0that education sits at the heart of any kind of development. My field, Educational Linguistics, combines every passion I have in this sense.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did you decide to become a\u00a0Researcher.Life\u00a0Ambassador?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Researcher.Life\u00a0Ambassador is one of the\u00a0programs\u00a0which facilitates researchers\u2019 interactions with one another and encourages interdisciplinary collaborations. More than that, I joined this\u00a0program\u00a0because I wish to give\u00a0<\/span>back as much as possible to the academic community<\/span><\/a>\u00a0as\u00a0a\u00a0Researcher.Life\u00a0Ambassador offers all types of support to do so.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the best part about working in research?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I find research to be rewarding. In the social sciences, research combines theory and practice and being able to touch upon practical issues promises a new step towards enhancing current situations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>And the most challenging part about working in research?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I believe that doing research is time and effort consuming especially when things don\u2019t go as planned – but it is part of research and we should embrace it.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the one thing you want people to know about\u00a0Researcher.Life?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There is a lot to say about\u00a0Researcher.Life, but if you\u2019re a researcher at any stage in your journey, joining this community will help you broaden your support bubble, build sustainable relationships and stay up-to-date with the latest discussions in all fields.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have always wanted to help as many\u00a0Ph.D.\u00a0students as possible by sharing\u00a0organization\u00a0tips I have developed since the start of my journey. The team of\u00a0the\u00a0Researcher\u00a0Life\u00a0Ambassador\u00a0program\u00a0is supportive and has helped me prepare for my first Facebook live\u00a0<\/span>\u2018Laying the foundation to\u00a0Ph.D.\u00a0success<\/span><\/a>.\u2019\u00a0It is amazing how the team works very hard and encourages its ambassadors to do more!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
